EPRO 8 Challenge Term 2

Term 2 Gifted and Talented Unit

This term I have worked with the Senior G&T children training for the Epro8 Challenge.  The children had to complete a number of preparation challenges.

The EPro8 Challenge is an engineering and problem-solving race and competition. Teams compete to build large sized structures, solve practical problems and use pulleys, motors, gears, wheels & axles to invent machines that can complete simple tasks.

Equipment needed to be sourced from various shops around Rotorua, letters and transportation needed to be organised.
I needed a growth mind set as we had never competed in this challenge before. With team work, preparation, encouragement and collaboration the Otonga Lightening Bolts gained 2nd PLACE in the Rotorua Challenge and then competed in the Bay of Plenty Semi-Finals.   Lots of discussion afterwards about teamwork and perseverance.
