Lego Training Day- Wednesday 29th August

LEGO® Education
Workshop
An inspiring day using Lego Education in the classroom. I particularly enjoyed building and coding the We.Do 2.0. I believe these will be amazing in the classroom and with the G&T children I work with. I have requested the Power Point from Mark Lockett the  Robotics and Engineering educator from South port school . I have also inquired about visiting the Lego School in West Auckland.

DOJO- for communication- Whanau Support

Dojo

This year I have used dojo. It has been very successful. Our class has all students with at least one parent connected.

It has been an excellent way to share whole class learning with whanau. I also include a question for whanau to ask their children to encourage rich discussion about the learning.

Dojo has also proven a great platform for students to quickly and easily share their learning with home. It has also been very useful to keep whanau updated about what is going on at school and to share the positives.

Understanding Behaviour and Responding Safely- Professional Develpment

Understanding Behaviour and Responding Safely

Our whole staff is now trained in Understanding Behaviour and Responding Safely.

This was especially beneficial for all our behavioural needs children. It focused on strategies to de-escalate behaviour.

During this session my teaching college, teaching assistant and I had the opportunity to form a behaviour plan as a team with Sharon Piatek the RTLB for AT. We have since all been implementing this consistently and seen an increase in positive behaviours.

"Neuroscience Foundations for All Learning"
Nathan’s presentation explored how the brain works
and how neuroscience can better inform our day to day interactions with

children and young people.

This talk stressed the importance of knowing how the brain works and how it develops at different times in boys and girls. Being more knowledgeable
as teachers allows us to be more understanding of our students and better able
to develop programmes that suit them.
