In 2019 I have really had to challenge my mind set with Maths. Otonga School has been involved with Dinah Harvey's approach to Mathematics. This involves a lot of Rich Tasks and fluid groupings. After an intensive time learning the NZ Numeracy Project after returning to NZ, this has been a tough change in mindset. I saw so many benefits to the Numeracy project and I am very comfortable teaching this was. The children love the Rich Tasks and I am enjoying this new challenge.... although at times I do find I slip back to my comfort zone. So aiming for one Rich task maths session per week at this stage.
